Valley Forge

I got a new camera for my birthday! :) It is a 6 MP Panisonic DMC-FZ7 with 12x optical zoom. This is a HUGE step up from the "free" Kodak EasyShare I got as a bonus when I purchased my computer several years ago. Here are a few pictures from our trip to Valley Forge that show what it can do. There are different pictures of this trip at the Ashton Home School Blog.

Detail of a Muhlenberg Brigade cabin.

A bit ironic that this "British Soldier Lichen" (Cladonia macilenta) was growing on the replica of a Continental Army cabin.

The following four pictures are close-ups of or near the National Memorial Arch

My first successful deer pictures! (The sign reads "Keep off the Entrenchments")

This squirrel was very high up in the tree, but he looks close enough to touch.

This is the house that George Washington used during the winter of 1777-1778 at Valley Forge.
