Danny and Music

It is an amazing thing. Danny has been so very sick the last three days (he had a fever of 102.5), but you sit him down in that First Chair with a violin in his hand, and he comes alive in an astonishing way. I know inside he is still aching and exhausted. He has been laid out flat up until about 40 minutes before we left the house. From my seat in the empty concert hall, I can see his hands shaking a little. But he is sitting up straight, bouncy and swaying, leading not only his section but the whole orchestra along from that first chair. Best of all his feet are moving every few moments, in that characteristic way he has, that always makes me smile. This is such glorious music! I know that they have done studies and found that laughter has healing powers. Surely Handel's Messiah, complete with a choir of nearly 60 and a full orchestra with harpsichord and soloists, would be uplifting not only for the soul, but for the body as well, especially for him to whom this music means so very much. I am so proud of Danny, and so very glad that he is mine.

Reading this made me smile. Adoration is so neglected a trait in a relationship, and so valuable. You two have something so special, that so many other couples never figure out. Hang on to it.
